Ceramic Coating Misconceptions

At Revamped Customs, we are proud to offer high-quality ceramic coatings for boats, designed to protect your vessel's surfaces from the harsh marine environment. While ceramic coatings provide superior protection, proper care and maintenance are crucial to ensure the coating performs as expected. Please review the warranty terms below to ensure a clear understanding of the coverage and customer responsibilities.

1. Ceramic Coatings Make Your Car Completely Scratch-Proof

While ceramic coatings provide a layer of protection that helps prevent minor scratches and swirl marks, they do not make your car scratch-proof. The coating creates a hydrophobic layer that helps protect the paint from contaminants like water, dirt, and bird droppings, but abrasive materials or rough handling can still damage the paint. You should still avoid rubbing against harsh surfaces.

2. Ceramic Coatings Eliminate the Need for Washing

Some people believe that once a ceramic coating is applied, their vehicle never needs to be washed. While the coating helps repel dirt, water, and contaminants, it doesn't keep the car spotless indefinitely. Routine cleaning is still necessary to maintain the coating’s effectiveness and to avoid buildup of contaminants like road salt, bird droppings, and tree sap.

3. Ceramic Coatings Are a "Set-It-and-Forget-It" Solution

A common misconception is that ceramic coatings offer permanent protection and require no maintenance. In reality, ceramic coatings need periodic maintenance to maintain their effectiveness, such as applying booster sprays or topcoats as recommended. The coating will naturally degrade over time, especially if not properly cared for, so regular inspections and touch-ups are essential.

4. Ceramic Coatings Provide Instant Water Beading Forever

Many people expect water beading to last forever once a ceramic coating is applied. However, water beading will gradually decrease over time as the coating wears down. Performance of the coating may diminish, especially if the vehicle is exposed to harsh conditions or improper maintenance. This doesn’t mean the coating isn’t still providing protection; it just won’t be as visually dramatic as when it was new.

5. Ceramic Coatings Are Impervious to All Environmental Contaminants

While ceramic coatings help protect against contaminants like water spots, bird droppings, tree sap, and UV rays, they don’t make your vehicle immune to all environmental factors. If contaminants are left on the surface for extended periods, they can still cause damage, such as etching or staining, and the coating will not necessarily prevent it. Quick action is still required to clean contaminants from the surface.

6. Ceramic Coatings Are Only for New Cars

Another misconception is that ceramic coatings are only beneficial for new or pristine cars. In reality, ceramic coatings can be applied to both new and older vehicles, though the condition of the paint should be taken into account. For older vehicles, paint correction may be necessary before application to ensure optimal bonding and performance. Ceramic coatings will still provide significant benefits to vehicles with slightly worn or imperfect paint.

7. Ceramic Coatings Make Cars Completely Resistant to Water Spots

While ceramic coatings significantly reduce the chances of water spots forming, they don’t make your vehicle immune to them. Hard water, in particular, can still cause spots if the water sits on the surface for too long. Regular washing and drying are necessary to avoid water spots, especially in areas with hard water.

8. Ceramic Coatings Are a Substitute for Paint Protection Film (PPF)

While ceramic coatings offer excellent protection against environmental contaminants, they are not a substitute for paint protection film (PPF). PPF is a thicker, more durable layer that offers protection against rock chips, abrasions, and impacts, while ceramic coatings provide a hydrophobic layer and enhance the surface's resistance to contaminants and UV rays. Both products can be used together for maximum protection.

9. Ceramic Coatings Will Never Need to Be Reapplied

Some customers assume that once a ceramic coating is applied, it will never need to be reapplied. This is not true. The coating’s hydrophobic properties and protection degrade over time due to exposure to UV rays, chemicals, and abrasions. Typically, a high-quality ceramic coating can last 1 to 5 years, but it will need to be maintained or reapplied to ensure continued protection.

10. Ceramic Coatings Are Only for Luxury or High-End Vehicles

Ceramic coatings can be beneficial for any vehicle, not just luxury or high-end ones. Even everyday vehicles can benefit from the protection against contaminants, easier cleaning, and enhanced shine that ceramic coatings provide. They're a great option for anyone looking to preserve the appearance and longevity of their vehicle’s paint, regardless of the make or model.

Paint Protection Film (PPF) Warranty Disclaimer

At Revamped Customs, we offer high-quality Paint Protection Film (PPF) services designed to protect your vehicle’s paint from chips, scratches, and other environmental damage. While PPF offers excellent protection, proper care and maintenance are essential to ensure the effectiveness and longevity of the film. Please review the warranty terms below to ensure a clear understanding of the coverage and customer responsibilities.

1. Warranty Coverage:

Our PPF installation is covered by a limited warranty for a period of 10 years from the date of application. This warranty includes:

  • Protection Against Defects in Material or Application: If the PPF fails due to a defect in the material or the application process, we will address the issue at no additional cost.
  • Resistance to Chips, Scratches, and Abrasions: The PPF is designed to resist damage from minor chips, scratches, and abrasions caused by road debris and other light impacts.
  • Yellowing and Discoloration: The PPF is guaranteed against yellowing or discoloration under normal wear and tear conditions.
  • Self-Healing Properties: The PPF comes with self-healing properties, meaning minor scratches or swirl marks may disappear with heat exposure (e.g., sunlight or a heat gun).

2. Warranty Exclusions:

This warranty does not cover:

  • Improper Maintenance: Failure to follow the proper maintenance instructions, including washing, waxing, or the use of harsh chemicals, will void the warranty.
  • Accidental Damage: Any damage resulting from accidents, collisions, or misuse, including deep scratches, cuts, or impacts, is not covered.
  • Environmental Contaminants: Damage caused by environmental contaminants, such as bird droppings, tree sap, road tar, or other harsh chemicals, is not covered if left untreated for extended periods.
  • Physical Damage or Abuse: Any damage resulting from physical abuse or neglect, such as aggressive washing techniques, power washing, or scraping, will void the warranty.
  • Improper Installation or Removal: The warranty is void if the PPF is removed or altered by anyone other than a trained professional from Revamped Customs.

3. Customer Responsibilities to Maintain Warranty:

To ensure the warranty remains valid, the customer must adhere to the following maintenance and care requirements:

  • Proper Washing Techniques:
    • Gentle Hand Wash: Always wash the vehicle by hand using a gentle wash mitt and pH-neutral, non-abrasive soap.
    • Avoid Harsh Cleaning Products: Do not use acidic or abrasive cleaning products. Always use non-abrasive cleaners designed for PPF and the vehicle’s finish.
    • Avoid Power Washing: High-pressure washing can damage the PPF and will void the warranty. Use a gentle stream of water instead.
    • Drying: After washing, dry the vehicle using a soft, clean microfiber towel to prevent water spots or streaks from forming.
  • Environmental Exposure: Avoid exposing the vehicle to harsh chemicals or environments, such as driving through construction zones with dust and debris, or allowing contaminants like bird droppings or tree sap to sit on the film for extended periods.
  • Self-Healing Maintenance: Minor scratches or swirl marks may heal over time with heat exposure (e.g., sunlight). However, if the damage is deep (e.g., cuts or gouges), it will not self-heal and should be addressed promptly.
  • Avoid Scratching or Scraping: Avoid using abrasive materials to clean or scrape the surface of the PPF. Do not use abrasive pads, scrapers, or sharp objects to clean or remove contaminants from the surface of the film.
  • Periodic Inspections: We recommend an annual inspection to ensure the PPF is performing as expected and to check for any areas that may need attention. This inspection is not included in the original cost of the PPF installation and will incur an additional charge.

4. Visibility of Film Edges and Use of Pre-Cut Templates:

While we make every effort to install the PPF as seamlessly as possible, it is important to note that the edges of the film may be visible in certain areas of the vehicle. We strive for the most inconspicuous installation possible, but due to the nature of the vehicle's contours and edges, there may be visible lines or edges where the film terminates. These are generally more noticeable in areas where the film cannot be tucked behind trim or into seams.

Additionally, we utilize pre-cut templates provided by the most advanced software companies. These templates are designed to cover the most common and accessible areas of the vehicle. However, there may be some areas where the templates cannot fully cover every single edge, particularly in tighter or more intricate sections of the vehicle. We recommend using these templates for the best results, as they are specifically designed to provide optimal protection and ease of installation.

5. Warranty Claims Process:

If you believe your PPF is not performing as promised, please contact us at (801) 516-8195 immediately. You must notify us within 3 days of discovering the issue to initiate the warranty claim process. All claims are subject to inspection to determine if the issue is covered under warranty.

6. Warranty Limitations:

This warranty is non-transferable and only applies to the original purchaser. We do not offer monetary refunds but will work to resolve any issues through repairs, refinishing, or reapplication of the PPF as deemed necessary by our team.

7. Liability Limitation:

Revamped Customs is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use the vehicle due to PPF issues. This includes, but is not limited to, loss of use, vehicle downtime, or associated costs.

Paint Matching Disclaimer

At Revamped Customs, we offer high-quality Paint Protection Film (PPF) services designed to protect your vehicle’s paint from chips, scratches, and other environmental damage. While PPF offers excellent protection, proper care and maintenance are essential to ensure the effectiveness and longevity of the film. Please review the warranty terms below to ensure a clear understanding of the coverage and customer responsibilities.

At Revamped Customs, our paint matching service is designed to enhance the appearance and customization of your vehicle by painting specific parts such as mirrors, handles, bumpers, grilles, and other components to match the vehicle’s original or desired color. We use advanced techniques and high-quality materials to achieve the best possible match for your vehicle’s paint.

However, it is important to note that automotive paint, whether applied as part of a factory finish or an aftermarket modification, is never 100% perfect. While we strive to deliver flawless results, several factors can affect the final outcome:

1. Paint Match Limitations:

  • Variations in Factory Paint: Even factory-installed paint can have slight variations due to different production batches or aging over time. As your vehicle’s paint naturally fades or changes due to exposure to UV rays and environmental conditions, it may result in subtle differences between the original paint and the newly applied paint.
  • Environmental Conditions: The temperature, humidity, and lighting at the time of painting can impact how the paint appears once applied. These factors can lead to slight differences in the final finish, even if the mix is carefully matched.
  • Material and Finish Differences: The type of material being painted (e.g., plastic, metal, fiberglass) and the type of finish (matte, gloss, metallic, etc.) can affect the appearance of the paint match. Different finishes can sometimes create subtle differences in how the color reflects light.
  • Fading Over Time: Over time, the surrounding paint will naturally fade due to sun exposure and weather, which may make the freshly painted components appear slightly different from the rest of the vehicle.

2. Challenges with Certain Substrates:

Certain vehicle parts, particularly chrome and textured plastic, are not ideal substrates for painting. These surfaces can present challenges in achieving a durable and long-lasting paint finish. The paint may not adhere as strongly as it would on smooth, primed surfaces, and these parts may require additional preparation to ensure better adhesion.

3. Protective Measures to Extend Paint Life:

To help preserve the appearance and longevity of the paint job on painted chrome, textured plastic, and other challenging surfaces, we highly recommend applying PPF (Paint Protection Film), ceramic coating, or other protective measures. These coatings provide an extra layer of defense against environmental factors, such as UV rays, dirt, road salts, and light abrasions, which can damage the paint over time.

4. Impact of Previously Applied Chemicals:

In some cases, parts of the vehicle may have been previously treated with greasy, waxy, or chemical products designed to enhance the appearance of the vehicle, such as waxes, sealants, or other shine-enhancing chemicals. These products, while enhancing the look of the vehicle temporarily, can create complications for us when applying paint. Such chemicals can:

  • Prevent Proper Adhesion: Residue left from waxes, oils, or other products can create a barrier, preventing the new paint from bonding properly to the surface.
  • Cause Paint Failure: If the surface is not thoroughly cleaned and prepped, these chemicals can cause the paint to peel, bubble, or fail prematurely.
  • Complicate the Preparation Process: Even with thorough cleaning, some chemical residues may remain, which could affect the longevity and durability of the paint job.

While we do our best to address these issues during the preparation process, we cannot be held responsible for complications that arise from the presence of such chemicals. It is highly recommended that customers thoroughly clean and decontaminate the vehicle before painting to help ensure the best possible results.

5. Paint Warranty Coverage:

We offer a limited warranty on our paint matching services that covers defects in the paint application process. The warranty includes:

  • Flaking of the Paint: If the paint begins to flake, peel, or come off due to application defects, we will cover the cost of repainting the affected area at no additional charge.
  • Chipping: Chipping of the paint, whether caused by rocks, road debris, or other environmental factors, is not covered under the warranty. While our paints are durable, paint chipping is a normal occurrence due to the nature of the materials involved and external impacts.

The warranty does not cover damage caused by physical impact, improper care, or environmental conditions such as harsh chemicals, road salt, or abrasive cleaning.

6. Striving for Excellence:

We take pride in delivering high-quality paint jobs that blend seamlessly with the vehicle’s existing paint. While we strive for perfection, we cannot guarantee that the paint job will be absolutely flawless due to the factors listed above. Minor variations in color or finish may be visible, especially when comparing new paint to older, weathered factory paint.

7. Customer Acknowledgment:

By proceeding with our paint matching service, you acknowledge and accept these limitations. While we work to achieve the closest possible match, we cannot promise that the job will be 100% perfect. We appreciate your understanding and trust in Revamped Customs to provide the best possible enhancement to your vehicle.
